Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold Specifications
Let’s start with the most amazing feature of the Mi MIX fold. The smartphone features an 8.01-inch OLED display with QHD + resolution and a 4: 3 aspect ratio. According to Xiaomi, this is the largest display on the folding smartphone. The display has HDR 10+, Dolby Vision, 600 nits maximum sustained brightness and 900 nits maximum peak brightness. Unfortunately, it supports a constant refresh rate of 60Hz.
However, thanks to the larger screen you will get a tablet-like experience on this screen. This display should be great for watching videos, browsing the web. Xiaomi offers desktop mode with resizable windows. This mode can be activated with a three-finger swipe.
On the outside, you get a 6.52-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2,520 x 840 pixels. As you can imagine, the external display has a wide aspect ratio of 27: 9. Fortunately, this display supports a refresh rate of 90Hz. You get a 180 Hz touch sample rate, 650 nits brightness, HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision.
According to Xiaomi, the Mi Mix fold uses the U-shape key, which is 27 percent lighter than the folds used by other folding smartphones. During the reliability test the phone was put through 200,000 folds and then that number was increased to 1 million.
The world’s first liquid lens camera system
Enough about the display, now let’s talk about cameras. The Mi Mix fold brings an innovative feature to the camera. Xiaomi calls it a ‘liquid lens’ on the smartphone’s 8MP telephoto camera. In layman’s terms, it is a flexible film filled with transparent fluid and changes its shape like a human eye. The liquid lens camera allows you to adjust its optical magnification from 3x to 30x. This technique allows the camera to reach a focused distance of at least 3 cm, which allows it to capture distant objects or capture macros.
For the main camera, this is a 108MP unit. You will also get a 13MP ultra-wide camera and an 8MP macro camera. It should also be noted that the Mi Mix fold is equipped with its own brand ISP (Image Signal Processor), the Surge C1. According to Xiaomi, it enables the 3A algorithm, auto focus, auto exposure and auto white balance.
Powerhouse is primary
The Mi MIX Fold is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. The smartphone runs on Android 11 OS. As mentioned earlier, three configurations are offered – 12 GB + 256 GB, 12 GB + 512 GB and 16 GB + 512 GB. RAM is of LPDDR5 unit and the storage uses UFS 3.1 technology.
The phone is supported by a 5020mAh battery, which is split between two 2,460mAh cells. It has a 67W on-board charge, which can charge the device from zero to 100 percent in 37 minutes.
The phone has a heat dissipation system. The cooling system takes care not only of the heat from the chipset, but also from the batteries and antennas.
The quad-speaker system was decided by Harmon Kardon
The Mi MIX Fold features a quad-speaker system, which until now was only found on tablets. Xiaomi said that the speaker has been decided by Harman Kardon. According to the brand, there are four 1016 Super Linear speakers, which are 40 percent more powerful than speakers on the Mi 10 Pro. Connectivity features include 5G, dual-band WiFi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS and USB Type-C port.
